My facial hair

No. I Don’t Have Change. But I Wish I Had a Goatee.
Now, this article is just odd. It’s a guy who lives in a city and normally did not get asked for spare change by the bums until he shaved his goatee. As I was reading this, I began to think back on my experience here in downtown in the last few months since I grew a goatee, and sure enough I have not been asked for change once.
I had noticed about a week ago that it seemed a little odd that none of the usual suspects around here had been approaching me lately, and I guess I never put two and two together. Tonight, though, it occurred to me that there have been at least three shady characters in the past month that haven’t asked me for money when I thought they were going to.
The article also references a study called “Mock jurors’ perceptions of facial hair on criminal offenders,” which asked people to look at two pictures and decide which one was the defendant in a rape case, and which one was the plaintiff in a head-injury case. 78% of 63 participants (or 49) identified the photograph with facial hair as being involved in the rape case.
Not sure what this means to me, especially being in sales. I really love my goatee! Makes me feel more attractive (manly — woof!). But now that I know it makes people think I’m going to rape them, does make me wonder…
